Default Oceano Dunes turning away duners!!!

THIS FROM THE FRIENDS OF OCEANO DUNES PAGE

FYI..For those heading to the beach...THIS JUST POSTED BY SOMEONE TRYING TO GET ON!!! PLEASE READ!!

In all our years coming to Pismo we have NEVER been turned away from getting onto the beach for day use....until today. Cars are being allowed on but not if you are bringing toys. State Parks personnel were apologetic and explained they hit capacity Friday for toys and they don't want to be shut down by the Coastal Commission. There was a constant flow of people leaving with toys but those weren't being counted so new people couldn't get in. They gave us a slip of paper with email addresses if we want to complain. They must be anticipating issues because local law enforcement was there monitoring. There are going to be a lot of upset people. ...and rightfully so. If people wonder why Friends of Oceano Dunes exists....This is the reason. Keeping the dunes open for ALL. I hope more people get angry and turn it into getting active and involved.

THIS FROM ME:This happened to my son Saturday! He was going to just go for the afternoon and he was turned away. They told him if he dropped his trailer and toy off he could then enter the beach with just his truck. This my friends is a bunch of crap. I for one intend to write to the email address that was given and will be complaining! THE EMAIL TO WRITE TO, and send to both please: odsvracomments@coastal.ca.gov and alsohvinfo@parks.ca.gov

Been turned away once before, but not sure if it was for ressies or toys. Is there somewhere to go for the policy/criteria? I get ressies so it might not ever apply to me, but I'd be curious...

Only 1400 toys allowed in a day regardless of ressies or not.....And they dont count what has left the beach each day. So its a crap shoot you Might get on the beach.

So if we can convince everyone who is going camping to answer 1 when they ask how many toys do you have in your hauler.....
Just kidding, that would be dishonest...:ee k:
